Job description The Interactive Media Group (IMG) provides the media and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, including iPhone, Apple TV, iTunes, and Mac OS X, as well as professional and consumer applications from Final Cut and Aperture to iLife and iWork. Combining cutting-edge software techniques with next-generation hardware, IMG takes the media experience to the next level with core technologies such as Quartz, QuickTime, OpenGL, Printing, Core Audio, Core Video, Core Animation, Quartz Composer and more.
The Printing team is looking for an exceptional engineer to design, develop, maintain, debug and deploy printer drivers for use with Mac OS X. You will be a key contributor to help define and implement future drivers to meet the printing needs of consumers through publishing professionals. This could include low-level driver interface, job processing, color management and user interface.
A technical BS/MS degree plus experience in Macintosh and Windows programming required. Deep knowledge of Mac OS X printing system, Printer Drivers and CUPS is critical. Familiarity with linux printing is desirable. Excellent communication skills required.

Required Experience
BS CS or equivalent experience.
3+ years experience in software industry.
Knowledge of C, Objective C or C++.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Must work well with people, and posses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with OS X or Darwin
Experience developing software on OS X
Experience with Gutenprint or other OpenSource printing projects.
Knowledge of CUPS
Knowledge of USB, Bluetooth (BIP, BPP, GOEP, HCRP, OPP), PictBridge, IPP, LPD, JetDirect, AppSocket, Bonjour, SLP and/or SNMP
Knowledge of PDF, PS, PPD and/or PCL
Knowledge of OS X Printer Drivers
