Responsibilities
* Designs, develops, modifies and/or evaluates parts, components, circuitry, modules, and/or (sub)systems for use in/with Applied products.
* Develops design methods and parameters, project methodology and/or project proposals.
* Develops and uses test procedures.
* Participates in the preparation of concept and feasibility studies.
* Gathers operational and test data and evaluates results.
* Participates in the fabrication of product prototypes.
* Evaluates of work methods, procedures and policies; establishes and determines new/revised work methods for the functional group.
* Performs other duties as assigned. Duties will vary according to the project in progress and/or the specific goals of the department in which the incumbent works.
* Provides guidance and technical assistance to lower level personnel.
Job Specific Knowledge
* Requires an understanding of engineering specification waiver process, GPSI, product structure, supplier problem sheet process, product safety design requirements, SEMI standards, CE Mark, sheet metal fabrication, PCB fabrication, machining, cable fabrication and weldment fabrication, materials, servicability, FMEA, dimensional management design, mechanical/electrical drawing review, geometric dimensioning and tolerencing principles, tolerance analysis, first article inspection procedure, ergonomics, alignment, material handling, test strategies, tool strategies, test specification development and tool specification development, data collection and reporting, DOE, SPC and root cause analysis.
Skills
* Strong skills required in change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, product technology, global business perspective, personal effectiveness, project management, team skills and quality.
* Requires proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Oracle NSR, Oracle BOM, Oracle ECO, Fracas, and PDM.
Education
* BS level degree in an engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent, and 8 years directly related experience
* MS level degree in an engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent, and 5 years directly related experience
