Position Purpose:
*
Responsible for the company's supplier quality and supplier engineering function and is the primary first point of contact for engineering questions as it relates to specific products, processes, commodities or work methods.
*
Develops supplier performance criteria and execution in accordance to corporate standards and programs.
*
Applies, revises and maintains standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
*
Incorporates engineering methods and production methods, during the execution of the job.
*
Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment from suppliers.
*
Has the capacity and ability to make decisions based on statistics and best known methods.
*
Specific duties will vary according to division objectives and departmental requirements.
*
This function places more emphasis on the supplier engineering activities related to systems, modules, components, business processes, work methods, metrics, and/or proliferation of best-known practices.
*
Specific duties typically vary according to organizational requirements, product development, manufacturing, supply chain, spares, and services.
*
The supplier engineer will participate in product design reviews, supplier selection and qualification as it relates to supplier quality, reliability, performance, and technical methods.
Responsibilities:
* Develops, applies, revises and maintains supplier standards for processing materials into partially finished products. Utilises corporate standards and measures where applicable
* Designs, implements and oversees methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment from the supplier.
* Develops methods and parameters, project methodology and/or project proposals.
* Develops and uses test procedures. Prepares documentation for inspection/testing procedures.
* Gathers operational and test data and evaluates results.
* Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies.
* Coaches, mentors and conducts training for targeted organizations and suppliers on quality and supplier performance and development processes.
* First point of contact, first line of response, to suppliers' questions regarding engineering questions related to suppliers' production.
Knowledge:
*
Knowledge for the supplier engineering function necessary to perform job includes:
*
understanding of the application and theory of most of the following including statistical concepts (discrete and continuous probability distributions, product safety and liability (analysis of safety issues, risk assessment)
*
basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design tools; and general understanding of other engineering sciences, production methods and construction methods.
*
Thorough understanding and application of engineering principles, including electrical, mechanical, process, and DFx; and utilization and thorough understanding of the interrelationship of technologies and their effect on product quality and delivery.
*
Strong knowledge of project management skills.
Knowledge for the Supplier Engineering function includes the ability to frequently contribute to the development of new theories and methods.
Skills and Abilities:

The abilities to perform job includes:
*
analytical communication, presentations, problem solving and troubleshooting, ability to work in a team and independently, influencing skills, ability to act as mentor and provide technical training to less experienced engineers/materials personnel, lead and/or supervise projects, and ability to represent the product business groups in an external professional societies.

Fluent in French & English
Education and Experience:
INCUMBENTS TYPICALLY WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
*
BS level degree in a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge;
*
8 years in manufacturing or material management engineering experience.
INCUMBENTS ARE PREFERRED WHO POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
*
MS in related engineering discipline, or related technical discipline or equivalent,
*
5 plus years of directly related experience (quality, manufacturing, production/materials planning, supplier development equipment
*
manufacturing organization)
