DESCRIPTION:
Lead business development activities for assigned accounts in the DoD Fixed Wing avionics market place. Identify, qualify, pursue and win new business opportunities.
Analyze and perform pursue/no pursue and bid/no bid recommendations, generation of business cases and development of pursuit strategies for new business opportunities. This will include evaluation of funding sources, competitive environment assessment, technology applicability, market dynamics, price to win analyses and Platform Solutions probability of winning.
1) Develop and maintain close, long-lasting relationships with key customer personnel; know the customer in all functional areas to include; executive management, engineering and supply management. Do the same with teaming partners, prime contractors and other suppliers.
2) Communicate the fixed wing customer perspective internally and be the customers primary advocate on both new and old business. Find creative ways to meet customer needs and budgets.
3) Know the competition & stay well informed of all competitor activities associated with Fixed Wing Avionics Systems; especially those concerning personnel, strategies, products, schedules and pricing.
4) Lead capture teams of multifunctional disciplines in the pursuit of profitable new business and manage the internal sell process within Platform Solutions.
5) Participate in and potentially organize industry trade show activities. May coordinate the preparation and production of various product promotion items including brochures, video tapes, trade show exhibits, advertising, small customer giveaway pieces, etc.
6) Organizes and participates in customer relations activities, e.g. coordinating customer meetings, facility tours, product demonstrations, security and export clearance and other customer relations.
The successful candidate must be a mature broad thinker who can successfully drive a complex organization. He or she must have a high degree of credibility with the customer and be able to interface well and quickly develop rapport with people at all levels. Absolute honesty and integrity and the ability to operate without violating U.S. or international ethics or procurement laws is required. The successful candidate will be someone who is confident and comfortable in his or her own abilities to lead and accept ownership of a business development team.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent training and experience
Minimum of 12 years successful relevant work experience in the aerospace industry
Minimum of 7 years related experience in Business development activities for DOD military electronics programs or products.
Demonstrated ability to prepare annual and long term forecasts, developing business capture plans and strategies.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, summarize and draw conclusions on data from numerous sources, and develop a viable business model.
Knowledge and expertise in Commercial OEM ~ Tier 1 and Tier 2 Aerospace procurement process, and understanding of business financial systems/processes.
Proven ability to integrate within a complex business organization and influence cross-functionally.
Comfortable making technically complex presentations and capable of representing various product areas.
Excellent communication and presentation skills for both internal and external audiences.
Thorough understanding of aircraft systems overall, flight controls, propulsion controls, power management and electronics in particular.
Ability to demonstrate significant past success in business development efforts.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point and MS Project.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
Masters degree in Engineering or Business Management
Prior experience with US Navy, US Army and/or USAF program acquisition offices
MS or MBA or equivalent training and experience.
Significant experience with DOD Fixed Wing Systems
Experience with military datalinks and/or situational awareness
An established network within the industry and existing relationships with potential customers.
