Security Systems Engineer Job in Herndon, VA 20192

A member of the EIT Security Engineering team; responsible for key aspects of the enterprise Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process and hands on vulnerability scanning, including:
Ensuring the accuracy, feasibility and documentation of system managerial, operational and technical security controls in C&A system security plans by facilitating their development with the system owner; updating plans, as required; and preparing C&A package for submittal to the Designated Approval Authority (DAA)
Supporting the C&A DAA, System Owners and EIT Security Towers, as required during the C&A process
Conducting vulnerability scans of systems mitigating and documenting vulnerabilities
Managing C&As documentation; developing schedules
Reviewing and analyzing system controls that are insufficient and in need of remediation; recommending corrective actions to reduce, eliminate or accept vulnerabilities
Work with Inc, OG and LOB customers in the completion of IT self assessments, verification and validation of existing processes, process development and revision, report preparation and analysis of data
Identifying and recommending improvements to processes, practices or materials which lead to positive results in quality
Participating in and contributing to process improvements; supporting, implementing and tracking measurable, performance-driven changes in processes and procedures
Responsible for the administrative support of C&A / self assessment software including enhancements to existing tools
Analysis of Nessus scan results and troubleshooting failed scans
Treating internal and external customers with dignity, courtesy and respect at all times
Required
Applicable Technical certifications: CISSP CISA, CISM SANS GIAC GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) GIAC Certified Firewall Analyst (GCFW)
Experience with some or all of the following:
ArcSight ESM, ArcSight Express, ArcSight Logger, ArcSight Connectors, Linux
MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, ArcSight, McAfee, Maximo, Sourcefire, Mazu, Checkpoint, Oracle,Nessus, NMAP, Snare, Snort, Oracle
7+ Years with BS or 3+ Years with MS
Experienced in the areas computer/network security, and computer/networking fundamentals
Technical expertise with infrastructure architecture design/implementation and management
Experience and understanding of network topologies and protocols
Working knowledge of networks, Windows administration, patch deployment and system configuration

Candidate should have experience researching, developing and writing security policy and procedures that comply with government regulations and internal policies
Candidate must be capable of working independently and exercising considerable judgment
Candidate must have experience making decisions based on compliance with company / IT policies, procedures and processes
Candidate must have extensive experience in all phases of the C&A process and in the enterprise IT self assessment process
