Role:
* Global and/or regional technical specialist consulting position which supports multiple refineries
* Provide in depth technical leadership and support to refining sites with a focus on troubleshooting, asset improvement, technology selection, research, and standards developmentMain Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Respond to plant operational events
* Analyze site equipment performance
* Drive site asset improvement in the areas of: Safety, Reliability, Environmental Performance and Equipment Capability
* Assist sites in application of new technology
* Provide regional technical leadership via involvement (participation / facilitation) in formal technical networks / work groups
* Develop and deliver technical training for plant engineering organizations
* Support major capital projects in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance and start-up assistance
* Develop and maintain technical standards & guidelines
* Conduct research to deliver technology advantages to refinery and chemical plant operations in the areas of energy, margin, and emissions controlPersonal Attributes:

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Relevant professional experience required - preferably within an operating company or a major engineering contractor (petrochemical or other heavy industry experience strongly desired)Technical Knowledge & Skills:
* Knowledge of petrochemical industry rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, gas turbines, fans, including their auxiliary, controls, projection and monitoring systems.
* Experience with rotating equipment should range from application, selection, performance evaluation, design reviews, re-rates, troubleshooting, commissioning, start-up, maintenance and overhaul.
* Knowledge of analysis and modelling methods including thermal performance, stress analysis, rotor dynamics, blade dynamics, and root cause investigation techniques.
