Job Description Role:
* Fulfill a global and/or regional plant equipment technical specialist consulting position supporting multiple refineries
* Provide in depth technical leadership and support related to petrochemicals processing units/equipment with a focus on troubleshooting, asset improvement, technology selection, research, and standards development
Reports to:
* Equipment Technology Section Head
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Respond to plant operational events
* Analyze site equipment performance
* Drive site asset improvement in the areas of: Safety, Reliability, Environmental Performance and Equipment Capability
* Assist sites in application of new technology
* Provide global and/or regional technical leadership via involvement (participation / facilitation) in formal technical networks / work groups
* Develop and deliver technical training for plant engineering organizations
* Support major capital projects and provide leadership in the areas of design consulting, technical quality assurance and start-up assistance
* Develop and maintain technical standards & guidelines
* Conduct research to deliver technology advantages to refinery and chemical plant operations in the areas of equipment design, maintenance and reliability

Qualifications:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Extensive piping and valve engineering experience required - preferably with an operating company or major engineering contractor (petrochemical or other heavy industry experience strongly desired)
* Experience with other pressure equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.) preferred
Technical Knowledge & Skills
* In depth familiarity with petrochemical industry standards associated with piping and valves required (ASME, API) - familiarity with International standards preferred
* Experienced in piping system specification, design, fabrication and repair
* Experienced in installing and maintaining pressure equipment
* Experienced in valve selection and maintenance
* Experienced with application of Fitness for Service (FFS) methods
* Familiarity with materials selection, welding processes and NDE methods
* Experienced with piping flexibility software for stress analysis and familiar with advanced analysis tools such as FEA
