The Technical Development Department of Television Engineering America for Sony Electronics, currently has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer in their San Diego, CA location. This Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, debugging, and modifying software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. The product will be used for end customer facing applications. Using current programming language and technologies, they will work in collaboration with other engineering members to write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications. This engineer will complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. This position will include leading tasks for architecture and high level design for complex issues, specifically looking at performance and optimum use of system resources like memory for CPU. They will need to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Collaboration with internal and external partners - also in Sony Tokyo - is part of this position.
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required
* Must have 4 to 6 years of related engineering experience
* Expertise in consumer electronics is preferred
* Must have strong theoretical background in Object Oriented design and development and highly proficient in C/C
* Software development for embedded applications is required
* Experience with GUI application development, multi-threading programming, and network programming is preferred
* Expertise in algorithm development and performance optimization issues is preferred
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels within the organization including: verbally and in writing
* Must be able to work independently and in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to recognize and analyze problems and then develop and implement solutions; a proven track record with experience leading technical projects to successful completion, from conception through implementation required
* Ability to work flexible hours and travel internationally and domestically as needed
