Our Emergency Department is searching for a Registered Nurse on a PRN II basis. The ideal candidate must posses a high degree of confidentiality, have positive interpersonal skills, and be customer service focused. The ability to function in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Qualifications for this position include:
* Graduate of an accredited nursing school
* Current Texas RN license
* BLS, ACLS required
* ENPC and/or TNCC preferred
*CEN preferred
* One year previous ED experience required with two years total in nursing

RN - ER PRN II - Afternoon Shift -
In order to maintain a PRN II status you must work at least 32 hours per month, 1 weekend shift per month, 1 major and 1 minor critical staffing shift and have 2 years of nursing experience.
Duties
The following are essential job accountabilities:
Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Ability to perform head to toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
Assesses, plans, implements and educates patient/family on appropriate pain management.
Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately. Specialty unit employees must meet clinical competency standards specific to the assigned patient care area.
Accurately assigns triage categories.
Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
