Job Description
Responsibilities:
Develops organizational strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives.
Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
Effective recruitment for open union and nonunion positions, employee relations, compensation, coordination of insurance benefit programs such as medical, disability, workers compensation, FMLA, and 401(k).
Manages human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions, maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change
Recruitment through internet, job fairs, and print advertising
Supports management by providing human resources advice, council and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
Guides management and employees actions by researching, developing writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines, communicating and enforcing organization values.
Complies with Federal State, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests’ exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Administering the attendance, compensation, payroll (ADP/Union/Non-Union) and benefits program; may participate in local wage and benefits surveys
Qualified candidate will facilitate training programs, manage assigned safety communications, work with supervisors and managers on appropriate employee corrective actions and handle exit interviews.
Recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and service performed
Maintaining HR Information Systems records and compile reports from database
Requirements:
Related Bachelors degree
Minimum of 5 years HR/HR Management experience, in either a distribution or manufacturing environment
Prior experience working in a union environment
Knowledge and understanding of FMLA, disability and worker's compensation case management/practices
ADP Payroll (Union/Non-Union)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work independently; possess strong interpersonal skills;
Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential situations and information
Proficient in Microsoft office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
